Effective Date: 09/15/2024
Our Goal:
The Pineapple Women Code of Conduct is foundational in establishing Pineapple Women as a safe, inclusive space for all community members. We adhere to principles of respect, compassion, understanding, and inclusion, and expect all members to uphold these values.
We pledge to create an open, welcoming environment, making participation inclusive for everyone, regardless of background or identity. This includes:
-
Using welcoming and inclusive language.
-
Respecting different viewpoints and experiences.
-
Providing constructive feedback.
-
Using preferred pronouns and gender-neutral language.
-
Assuming good intentions and approaching interactions with humility.
Our Pledge:
As a volunteer, you play a crucial role in embodying our values of diversity, inclusion, excellence, teamwork, transparency, openness, and accountability. We expect:
-
Professional conduct that reflects our values.
-
Respect for everyone’s dignity, treating all with kindness and courtesy.
-
Adherence to privacy norms; not sharing contact details with participants without proper channels.
-
Commitment to any activity agreed upon.
-
Compliance with local policies and procedures during any volunteering, including virtual settings.
-
Engagement in constructive feedback processes to improve experiences.
Volunteer Code of Conduct:
As volunteers, you are not only contributors but also role models for the participants of Pineapple Women. It is imperative that your behavior and conduct consistently reflect the core values of our organization:
-
Professionalism and Integrity: Demonstrate honesty, integrity, and respect in all interactions, fostering a positive environment that encourages growth and learning.
-
Positive Representation: Act in a manner that positively represents Pineapple Women and its mission, both within and outside the program activities.
Role Model Expectations:
Given that many participants may be minors, it is critical to adhere to specific guidelines to ensure their safety and wellbeing:
-
Appropriate Communication: All communications with minors should be appropriate and respectful. Avoid any language or content that could be misunderstood or deemed inappropriate.
-
Use of Official Channels: Do not provide personal contact information directly to minor participants. All communications should go through official channels (e.g., mediated by Pineapple Women staff or through approved platforms).
-
Respect Privacy: Be mindful of the privacy and personal boundaries of all participants. This includes not requesting or sharing personal information beyond what is necessary and approved within the scope of the program.
-
Reporting Concerns: If you observe or suspect any harmful behavior or conditions affecting minors, it is your responsibility to report these concerns immediately to Pineapple Women’s designated safeguarding officer or through the appropriate channels provided in the Code of Conduct.
Guidelines for Interaction with Minors:
-
Training: Volunteers will receive specific training on how to interact safely and responsibly with minors, including understanding the legal responsibilities and boundaries.
-
Supervision: Efforts will be made to ensure that volunteers are never left alone with minors without appropriate supervision. Activities will be monitored to uphold the highest standards of safety and conduct.
Safety and Protection of Minors:
-
Any breaches of this Code will be evaluated by our Trust & Safety Board, considering context and intent.
-
Conflict should first be approached with attempts at de-escalation and understanding.
-
Formal processes will follow if issues cannot be resolved informally.
Enforcement and Conflict Resolution:
-
This Code of Conduct is regularly reviewed and updated to reflect new insights and community feedback.
-
We encourage ongoing dialogue to ensure our practices meet the highest standards of integrity and care.
